Hard science fiction. The angels are not supernatural — they are human beings, fifteen thousand years evolved. Every miracle has a mechanism.
Blood & Fire is hard science fiction. The angels are not supernatural — they are human beings, fifteen thousand years evolved, who returned to reclaim the planet they left behind. The demons are a hybrid species engineered from human and alien biology. The magic is physics. The prophecies are history that hasn't happened yet. And behind every god, there is a person who made a choice.
If it looks like fantasy, that is because the people on Earth have no frame of reference for what they are actually seeing. The legends, the religions, the myths — they are corrupted transmissions of real events. Blood & Fire is the uncorrupted version.
Five distinct civilisations. One planet caught between them.
Homo sapiens evolved — 15,000 years old
Humanity's furthest evolution. Fifteen thousand years of technological and biological advancement have produced a hierarchical empire governed through seven towers: Michael, Uriel, Gabriel, Raphael, Raguel, Remiel, and Saraqael. They are not supernatural. They are us — further along the same path. And they have come back.
Angel-dragon hybrids — engineered 11,500 years ago
Created by the Angels Pegasus and Satan from human and alien dragon biology, the Demons developed into a civilisation of seven kingdoms across what humanity calls Hell. Governed by strength, bound by pod brotherhood, and shaped by a plague five thousand years ago that permanently altered their society. Dugan of Valukaa is one of them.
Interdimensional beings — near extinct
Near-extinct after the First Great War, the Deus were interdimensional entities of immense power who interbred with early humanity and were worshipped as gods. Their descendants carry traces of dimensional ability — most without knowing it. Theo Moreau is one such descendant.
Angels who followed Lucifer — 6,000 years ago
Six thousand years ago, Lucifer led a faction of Angels to Earth during the First Civil War. They became the Fallen — a clandestine organisation now embedded in human society, monitoring and protecting humanity from forces it cannot perceive. Their agenda is not as simple as it first appears.
Earth's original inhabitants — unaware
The species left behind when humanity's ancestors departed fifteen thousand years ago. They have built civilisations, developed religions, and waged wars — all within a sliver of the true picture. Some carry Deus blood without knowing it. All are about to discover that the universe is far older, far stranger, and far more populated than they believed.
A spoiler-free overview of the ages that shaped the world of Blood & Fire. The full timeline will be available to Patreon subscribers — coming soon.
The Rackmor Age
Humanity enslaved on an alien world. The species that would become angels begins its long journey toward transcendence.
The Rebellion
Slaves seize their masters' technology. The turning point that makes everything that follows possible.
The Age of Angels
Humanity transcends, builds an empire, and spreads across the stars. The seven towers are established. The Angels are born.
The AI War — First Cataclysm
Three hundred years of war against a rogue superintelligence. The conflict that forges the Angel military into what it is today.
The Dragon Conflict
War across Hell. The legendary swords are forged during this era — weapons that will shape every conflict that follows.
The First Great War
Angels destroy the Deus homeworld. The Deus are nearly wiped out. Their survivors scatter across human populations.
The Second Great War
Angels versus Hell. A moon is destroyed. The scale of what these civilisations are capable of becomes undeniable.
The First Civil War
Lucifer's rebellion. The Fallen Angels are born. The fracture within Angel society that is still unhealed fifteen thousand years later.
The Present
Fifteen thousand years after it began, Earth has no idea what is coming. Five people are about to find out.
Forged during the Dragon Conflict. Each one unique. Each one capable of changing the outcome of a war.
Demon-forged — Black and Red
Reduces any organic matter to ash on contact. Currently in the possession of Dugan of Valukaa, who has carried it for a thousand years and understands exactly what it cost to wield it.
Angel-forged — Silver and Gold
Can cut through any material or barrier without exception. Its current whereabouts are not public knowledge. Several factions are looking for it.
Deus-forged — Green and Black
Amplifies control over weather and atmospheric phenomena to a planetary scale. One of the most destructive weapons ever created and, by most accounts, currently lost.
Human / Neutral — Gold and White
Emits light exceeding stellar intensity. The only sword of the four not forged by a faction with a stake in the wars that created it. What that means for who can wield it is a question the story will answer.
What is it? Where is it? What does it do? Dugan of Valukaa has been searching for answers for a thousand years. So has every Angel who knows the name. So has everyone who has ever heard it whispered.
The answer is in the book.
