Phonology
Angelic is a language that evolved over fifteen thousand years from early human proto-languages, shaped by technology, distance from Earth, and deliberate aesthetic choices by its speakers. It is precise, layered, and formal in register — designed for beings who communicate across vast distances and need no ambiguity.
The first thing a human notices is that it almost makes sense. That's intentional. Angelic was built on two ancient foundations: Proto-Indo-European roots — the reconstructed ancestor of most human languages — and Semitic sacred vocabulary, preserved across fifteen millennia as a form of cultural memory. The vowels are clean and Mediterranean: a, e, i, o, u. The consonants are mostly familiar. But then a word begins with kr- or vr-, or a glottal stop catches in the throat mid-syllable, and the familiarity slips. Stress falls on the first syllable in most words, which gives Angelic speech a front-weighted quality: declarations land before they've finished arriving. It is the rhythm of a civilisation that does not hedge.

Sample Sentences
Ka'ren liou — "Life to the stars."
The standard formal greeting between Angels of equal rank — but the translation doesn't quite capture what's being said. For the Angels, reaching the stars was never abstract. From their earliest days as a people, the stars represented the way home: the drive to cross the void and find the world they had been taken from. So when one Angel says ka'ren liou to another, they aren't wishing them starlight. They're wishing them purpose, direction, a home worth reaching. It sits somewhere between "may your life mean something" and "may you find where you belong."
This same logic runs through the Angelic concept of the divine. In their language and culture, el- — the divine prefix — does not mark something to be worshipped or feared. It marks something that is the best it can possibly be. A divine spirit is not a god above you. It is a self fully realised. To call something divine in Angelic is to say it has become exactly what it was capable of becoming. The greeting and the honorific come from the same place: a civilisation that has always measured worth by how far something was willing to reach.
Kalma tu — "Peace to you."
A formal closing, used in correspondence and at the end of diplomatic encounters. When an Archangel ends a message this way, it is not warmth. It is a signal that the conversation is over.
Sovra vi — "Reach the future."
A farewell. Literally: may you reach toward what is coming. In a civilisation built on calculated forward motion, it is one of the most sincere things you can say to someone.

Where Angelic sounds almost familiar, Demonic sounds deliberately stripped of that comfort. It evolved from the same roots, but everything ornamental has been removed. What remains is harder, heavier, and ends with impact rather than beginning with it — Demonic stresses the final syllable or the heaviest consonant cluster in a word. The sentence arrives and then it hits.
Consonant clusters that feel awkward to human mouths — kr-, dr-, gn- — appear at the front of words constantly. This is not accidental. It is a language that begins sentences the way a Demon begins a fight: with force, before the listener has finished preparing.
The value that organises everything in Demonic culture — and by extension the language itself — is strength. Not exclusively physical strength, though that matters. Intellectual strength matters equally. Strategic strength. The strength to lead, to endure, to outthink. What Demons respect is capability in any form, expressed without apology. What they do not respect is the absence of it.
This philosophy is perhaps most visible in how Demonic handles time. It doesn't. There are no tense markers in Demonic — no particles to signal past, present, or future. Context supplies all of that, and the language makes no apology for the demand that places on the listener. The reasoning is straightforward: if you cannot read the situation well enough to understand when something happened, you were not paying close enough attention to deserve the information.
Kal Mak Shor — "I challenge your right to rule."
Three words. Three roots. Each one carries its own weight: Kal places the speaker at the centre of the sentence, personally and physically. Mak names the thing being contested — not the person, but their claim to authority, which the language treats as two different things. Shor is the oldest word in the Demonic combat vocabulary: not a fight, but the formal declaration that one is coming, and that the outcome will settle who was right.
It is not an insult. In Demonic culture, it is closer to a gift. Any Demon can invoke it against any ruler, at any time. The stronger will leads. It is brutal, and it has kept Hell's kingdoms functional for eleven thousand years.

Seven kingdoms, each with its own geography, culture, and history. Spoiler-free overviews only — the full histories will be Patreon content, coming soon.
Western mountains — oldest kingdom
Founded by Lilith. The oldest of the seven kingdoms, built high in the western mountains and carrying the weight of that history in everything it does.
Eastern volcanic highlands
The volcanic eastern territories. A kingdom forged in extreme conditions that shaped its people into something harder than the stone they live on.
Black desert territories
The black desert. Dugan's kingdom of origin — though he has not called it home in a very long time. What that means for his relationship to the place is a thread the story will pull.
Marsh and delta networks
The marsh territories — vast, labyrinthine, and navigable only by those who grew up in them. Trade and information move through Paṅkaim differently than anywhere else.
Ash plains and volcanic plateaus
The ash plains stretch across volcanic plateaus still active enough to reshape the landscape over decades. The Demons who call this home have adapted accordingly.
Cavern-city complexes
Built entirely underground. The cavern-cities of Taman are among the largest enclosed structures in the known world — and among the most impenetrable.
Polar mountain regions
The most remote of the seven kingdoms. MahEil sits at the polar extremes of Hell's geography, and its isolation has produced a culture that views the other six kingdoms with a particular kind of detached patience.
The governance structure of the Angel empire. Seven towers, seven domains. Each one named for and headed by an Archangel.
Military & Security
The military arm of the Angel empire. Everything that involves force, defence, and the projection of power runs through Michael.
Intelligence & Research
The information arm. What Uriel knows, and what Uriel chooses to share, shapes every decision the empire makes.
Diplomacy & Communication
The voice of the empire externally. Every negotiation, every treaty, every carefully worded message to a civilisation that doesn't yet know what it's dealing with — Gabriel.
Medicine, Healing & Environmental Stewardship
The care arm. What keeps an empire of beings who have lived for millennia functional and purposeful.
Justice, Law & Internal Order
The law. Raguel is where accountability lives — and where it goes to be buried, if someone powerful enough wants it buried.
Exploration & Dimensional Affairs
The frontier arm. The Deus connection runs through Remiel — the tower most involved with what lies beyond the dimensions humanity can perceive.
Culture, Knowledge & Memory
The memory of the empire. Fifteen thousand years of history have to live somewhere. Saraqael is the tower that decides what is remembered and what is allowed to be forgotten.
